Platinum engagement rings with Old-Mine cut diamonds
Earlier this week, spectators were capturing the first appearances of expectant mother Natalie Portman. The 29-year-old actress is recently engaged to her recent on-screen partner Benjamin Millepied. The former dancer for the New York City Ballet and longtime friend has recently starred alongside Miss Portman in the film Black Swan. The engagement ring, which has been created by jewellery designer Jamie Wolf, has been created in Platinum, and has been set with a central Old Mine Cut diamond, and encircled by pave set diamonds. Media has drawn attention to the eco-friendly credentials of the ring, with the diamonds being noted to be conflict free.
Double Halo Rings
The ring will no doubt inspire others to seek out similar designs, and the halo of surrounding pave set diamonds creates a wonderful effect on an engagement ring. The above ring, for example, has a very similar design, with an elaborate set of diamond halo’s, encircling the ring. R1D005S shown above holds a central round brilliant cut diamond, G colour and SI1 clarity with 0.70cts of fully cut conflict-free, round brilliant cut diamonds in pave settings around the stone. The ring also has plain shoulders and a wedding ring fit. The website image of this design shows a matching plain wedding ring sitting perfectly alongside, of which a 3mm or 4mm width works beautifully.
Simpler halo rings, with diamond set shoulders such as R1D001S, remain popular designs with a similar styling and feel. The ring below is Natalie Portman’s engagement ring caught on camera, and the above shot is one design with a similar feel.
