Although Platinum weighs just over a third heavier, the price per gram has risen into 2026. For this reason, <em>the cost is lower than Platinum at this time.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on January 2026 prices for a single-stone (solitaire) ring mount and moving a diamond from one metal to the other metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Price for new \u00a318ct Gold ring mount (3 grams x 18ct Gold price) = \u00a3750<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Price for new Platinum ring mount (3 grams x 1.34 heavier weight = 4 grams x Platinum price)= \u00a3690<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scrap price for the unwanted 18ct gold ring = 3 grams x \u00a335 per gram = \u00a3105<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Price for new Platinum mount \u00a3690 less scrap \u00a3105 price = \u00a3585.00<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The price will depend on the chosen design&#8217;s weight, but this calculation shows the price difference for a 0.30-carat solitaire ring when changing the precious metal to Platinum.
