Both references usually tend to be used to describe a diamond that has been submitted to a diamond grading laboratory to be graded under strict conditions, and the details documented on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.serendipitydiamonds.com\/uk\/education\/learn-about-diamond-certification\"><em>diamond grading report<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Certified or Certificated? Is there a difference?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is a difference between each term. Within diamond talk, both tend to refer to the same thing, but strictly speaking the following distinctions should be applied.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Certified<\/strong> &#8211; to describe a diamond that has been graded by a diamond grading laboratory. The specific details (usually carat weight, colour, clarity) of a diamond has been confirmed and verified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Certificated<\/strong> &#8211; a diamond provided with a certificate. The certificate or diamond grading report documents details relating to that specific stone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both terms are used freely in reference to polished diamonds, rather than <em>rough diamonds\u00a0<\/em>[not to be confused with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kimberleyprocess.com\/en\/about\">Kimberley Process and conflict diamonds<\/a>]<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Which is correct?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When it comes to correct jargon, both terms have a correct context.
