Creating a Shaped Wedding Ring for the Tiffany Ribbon Ring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Tiffany Ribbon Ring\u00a0<\/a>is a diamond engagement ring, designed and created by World famous jeweller, Tiffany & Co. Sometimes called the Tiffany Bow Ribbon Ring, the distinctive style provides a unique design for brides-to-be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of this dazzling ring design, a round brilliant cut diamond sits between a ribbon collar. In addition to diamond shoulders, the ribbon setting includes small round brilliant cut diamonds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First step. Sketching the concept for the Tiffany Ribbon shaped wedding ring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Working with the Ribbon ring, our first step involved creating a sketch. The design needed to match the engagement ring, whilst fitting around the setting of the ribbon ring. In addition, the sketch included important considerations \u2013 such as matching diamond sizes, setting styles and the tapering channel detail on each shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n

Method 1 – CAD designing the Ribbon shaped wedding ring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of our latest techniques involves 3D scanning the engagement ring. This technique allows a 3D shaped wedding ring model to be created by computer. Our client received this image in the early stages of the commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does Tiffany produce a shaped ring to fit the Ribbon ring?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To our best knowledge, Tiffany & Co. do not (as yet) create a suitably shaped band for the Ribbon ring. Furthermore, the diamond ring shown alongside, would not fit. As a result, a gap would exist between both rings. For this reason, a shaped wedding ring is needed<\/a> for the two rings to sit flush together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Method 2 – Hand Carved Wax Model<\/h2>\n\n\n

Our previous technique involved creating a wax model that would be used to cast the finished ring<\/a>. A hand-carved wax model appears below, photographed during our first Ribbon ring commission. The casting undergoes refinement. As a result, the wax appears heavier than the final ring. In addition, our client received photographs of the wax model next to their ring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matching the wedding ring shoulders to the Tiffany Ribbon Ring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With any shaped wedding ring commission, it is very important to match key features. The Tiffany Ribbon ring has diamond set shoulders. In addition, there is a distinctive point to the design. During our preparations, diamonds are matched for size, colour and clarity. Furthermore, the width and profile of the band itself is matched.<\/p>\n\n\n
