Adding Gold to Black Zirconium Wedding Rings

Black wedding rings in Zirconium

Combining Gold with Black Zirconium for wedding rings

Black Zirconium wedding rings have risen in popularity in recent years. Black Zirconium looks similar to Titanium. In fact, little difference exists between both metals. As a result, we have seen the rise of black wedding rings for men and women.

Like Titanium, Zirconium offers lightness, durability, and comfort. Unlike tungsten, it can be sized. However, heating Zirconium produces a black surface compared to the silver, polished equivalent prior to oxidation. This characteristic is visible with all-black Zirconium wedding rings. Designs range from simple all-black Zirconium wedding rings to banded designs with polished edges.

Can Black Zirconium wedding rings be re-sized?

Black Zirconium wedding rings can be re-sized. Simple black Zirconium rings can be adjusted by approx. 1.5 sizes larger or smaller. Additional detail can make sizing difficult, but unlike unforgiving metals such as Tungsten, Titanium and Zirconium lend themselves to size adjustments if required.

Both version of the Oro wedding ring. One features natural Zirconium, whilst the other features black matte Zirconium.

Does the black finish stay black?

Black Zirconium bands do remain black but this finish is an oxidised surface which can wear. When marked, worn or abraded, it can be re-applied by a simple process to restore the wedding ring to new condition. Read more on both metal types within our information pages online.

Precious metals with black Zirconium

Adding an outer inlay or inner sleeve of precious metal to Zirconium wedding rings is possible. One of our more unique black Zirconium wedding rings combines a yellow gold inner sleeve contrasting with a flat, satin-finished black zirconium outer surface. Only when the ring is removed do you see the luxurious warm gold. The addition of gold to the wedding ring gives it a heavier, luxurious feel.

If you would like to see our full range, please book an appointment in our Ryde showroom or view designs as they are added to the Zirconium collection online.
