Celebrating a 65th Wedding Anniversary with Blue Sapphire

Blue Sapphire 65th wedding anniversary ring

Blue Sapphire jewellery for a 65th Wedding Anniversary.

Blue Sapphire represents a 65th wedding anniversary. In addition, Sapphire represents the birthstone for September. At the same time, jewellery makes one of the most popular 65th wedding anniversary gifts celebrating 65 years of marriage.

But why does Blue Sapphire represent 65 years of marriage?

Blue Sapphire represents the qualities of loyalty, contentment, dream fulfilment and prosperity. At the same time, this blue stone makes a perfect choice for a milestone wedding anniversary.

What is Sapphire?

Natural Sapphires come from the mineral Corundum. Blue represents just one colour variation of this precious gemstone. Furthermore, varieties exist in the shade of blue. For example, blue-black, pale-blue, dark-blue, Royal-blue and Cornflower-blue.

Colour can be treated or natural blue. Certain heat treatments enhance the colour. For this reason, some of the most expensive gemstones feature a naturally blue colour without any treatment.

They originate from many places across the world, including Australia, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Sapphire can be found in a diverse range of colours. For example, blue, pink, yellow, green and orange. In addition, a red variety of Corundum exists in the form of Ruby.

Sapphires achieve a hardness grade of 7.5 – 8 on Moh’s scale. Interestingly, the name Sapphire comes from the Latin word Saphirus and the Greek Sapheiros, meaning blue.

Royal Inspiration for Blue Sapphire Jewellery

Princess Diana immortalised Blue Sapphire jewellery with her fabulous cluster ring. Prince William gave the ring to Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge. In detail, Kate Middleton’s engagement ring consists of a 12-carat oval blue sapphire surrounded by fourteen solitaire diamonds set into 18ct White Gold.

One of our bespoke Sapphire commissions was inspired by Princess Diana’s ring.

Over the years, we have created many similar ring styles based on the same design. Some were set with our clients’ own gemstones. At other times, we sourced gems for each commission.

We decided to put together a few jewellery suggestions. Each design makes a perfect gift for a 65th wedding anniversary.

65th Anniversary Earrings

Earrings make a great anniversary gift choice. In fact, earrings require no knowledge of finger size. For this reason, earrings make an easier choice for an anniversary. As a suggestion, choose a design with white diamonds to really make the Sapphires stand out. For example, our Dew drop earrings sparkle with both diamonds and Sapphires in a triple halo design.

Diamond and Sapphire Eternity Rings

Sapphires make a great choice for an eternity ring. In fact, eternity rings make the ideal way to commemorate a very special anniversary. Try alternating blue gemstone with diamonds with a dramatic effect. For example, the variation of blue and white forms an eye-catching arrangement in the bespoke eternity ring design below.

65th Wedding Anniversary Necklaces

We create many different Sapphire necklace designs. For example, solitaire necklace styles are set with Sapphire. Or, more decorative cluster arrangements with diamonds and Sapphires. The example below features a square design set with a Princess-cut Blue Sapphire in a rubbed-over setting.

Adding Sapphires to a Wedding Ring

Why not add a Sapphire to a wedding ring. Or, remodel an existing wedding ring with the addition of Sapphires. For example, the following design shows a specially shaped wedding ring with flush-set Sapphire and diamonds.

Diamond or Sapphire engagement rings pair beautifully with a Sapphire and diamond wedding ring. As a result, Sapphires regularly feature in bridal jewellery. In fact, this gemstone represents the second most popular choice of gem for engagement rings.
