Designing the Diagonal Engagement Ring Setting
The discovery of a unique ring design can be the ultimate deciding factor (besides cost) to an engagement ring purchase. For this reason, part of our work at Serendipity Diamonds involves innovating new designs. We introduce exceptional new ring styles each year, blending them into our growing collection. Starting with a simple pencil sketch with a concept in mind, we were able to create the first basic idea that could then be modelled by CAD design.

Competition Finalist
During 2015 we were challenged to come up with a brand new original design to represent the CanadaMark brand of traceable diamonds. Our simple Marquise solitaire design was chosen as one of the finalists for the competition which runs this year. We named this design “Ursa” after the constellations seen in the northern hemisphere name most brightly during April. We oriented the stone diagonally within the ring, sweeping both shoulders to embrace the diamond.

Design Commission
Theoretically this style of engagement ring can be applied to many diamond shapes but few diamond shapes possess the natural curvature of the Marquise diamond chosen for this very reason. After the model was created, this exceptional ring took shape over weeks of intensive work to reveal the final commission.

More details on this exquisite new ring design can be found on our shop page shown in 18ct Fairtrade Gold set with a 0.76cts diamond, but available in many other precious metal and diamond options.
