Stackable Diamond Rings – Considerations for Design

What are Stacking Rings?

Stacking rings are multiple rings, designed to sit together on the finger to produce a matched set. Stacking rings blend versatility, with the impact of a single combination ring. Most stackable diamond rings do not lock together but rest freely on the finger against one another. This gives a certain freedom of movement across the ring set. The ‘wow’ factor often comes from varying shapes, different sizes of stones, and (in some cases) stone colour combinations. Stackable diamond rings need consideration between band width, and diamond sizes for best effect.

Stacking rings exist for both costume and luxury jewellery markets. The difference tends is usually on account of the materials used. Luxury materials include precious metals (18ct White Gold, 18ct Yellow Gold, Platinum, Palladium etc.) combined with diamonds or precious stones. Less expensive stacking rings usually consist of Silver combined with semi-precious or synthetic stones. Exciting designs combine a mixture of shapes, colours and materials.

Considerations for Diamond Stacking Rings

If you are considering a diamond ring, then keep the following considerations in mind.

Ring Width –  Since multiple bands sit together, the overall width needs consideration. Many styles keep the plain section under the finger, with stones set across the upper section.

Diamond Sizes – The variation in diamond size, and the way diamonds sit together (in combination) will produce the full effect of the ring. Smaller diamonds will appear uniform, but a single feature diamond in the ring will add impact. Our referenced style (RLD011) above includes a certified 0.50cts 5mm round brilliant cut diamond for impact, including variation of 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm and 4mm diamonds.

Pricing Per Ring or as a Set

Ensure you are aware of costs. Are you purchasing the complete set or just one ring. Although we can produce just one ring, we tend to present the above design, as a three-ring set. To ensure a perfect fit, and consistency it is advisable to commission the complete set at the same time. This can however be more expensive than purchasing each ring individually.
