Galaxy Black Diamond Ring
We created the Galaxy black diamond engagement ring, by bespoke design for a local client on the Isle of Wight. This unusual ring design featured a unique shield-shaped Galaxy diamond held within a Platinum setting. The diamond provided incredible contrast against an arch of graduated white lab-grown round brilliant-cut diamonds. The central diamond weighed 1.15 carats, with an additional 0.09 carats of white diamonds. Like so many of our bespoke designs, we began this unique commission by sourcing the Galaxy black diamond. Once our client approved the centre diamond, we created CAD designs for their approval before finally crafting the ring over a five-week timescale.
What are Galaxy Diamonds?
This unique type of diamond features a combination of black and white inclusions. Many feature a metallic look, cut in various diamond shapes.
They originated, like most diamonds, from immense pressure and heat. Some sources suggest a different origin from Supernovae. This explanation lends further mystery and support for their name.
Most diamonds of this type feature a speckled appearance. Many find such diamonds an interesting alternative to regular black diamonds.
Galaxy diamonds fall into the category of salt-and-pepper diamonds. This type of diamond has a similar appearance but is lighter in colour by comparison.
