Carré Cut

Carré cut engagement rings feature unusual square-cut diamonds. This unusual diamond cut offers an alternative to Princess engagement ring styles.

What are Carré cut engagement rings?

The Carré cut diamond is a connoisseur's choice of diamond. Most importantly, this step-cut diamond rarely makes an appearance in most jewellers. In fact, for us, the diamond shape can be notoriously difficult to source. Simply put, the Carré diamond represents a square version of the Baguette cut. Far less sparkly than a Princess cut, the shape produces more fire than brilliance with elongated flashes.

Just like the Emerald-cut, Carré cuts (also known as square cuts) offer a subtle diamond with sharp corners. The diamond shape suits most engagement ring styles suitable for Princess cut diamonds. But, many designs feature an antique or vintage theme, such as our Art Deco ring design, edged with Baguette cut diamonds.

The Deco ring design is shown below with a Carré diamond. Owing to the rarity of this diamond cut, please enquire for details. We create the square diamond version as a bespoke ring design, individually sourced and crafted to order. Notice how this particular example radiates less brilliance than the Princess cut—far more subtle with more fire and less dazzle.
