Hand Engraving vs Machined Pattern
There are many great opportunities for decorating wedding rings. Some people favour hand engraved detail. Others will favour machined detail. Both are useful depending on the individual commission. Hand engravers apply detail with skill and dexterity. The precision of machined detail ensures accuracy and consistency. Many of our suggested wedding ring styles with pre-designed cuts show the possibilities. There are many options.
Vintage Wedding Ring Commission
We created the ladies shaped wedding ring (above) to fit to an existing engagement ring. Owing to strong styling elements, we wanted to carry these across. We combined the engraved diamond effect, with pattern work and diamonds. The diamonds were single-cut for authenticity. For the groom’s wedding ring, our client was keen to carry some detail from his partner’s ring across. We decided on hand engraving because we could not machine the pattern on either one of the wedding rings.
Another Possibility – Laser Engraving
A further possibility we have not yet discussed here. Laser engraving provides a further method to personalise a wedding ring. Any shape, wording or pattern can be etched into the surface of a wedding ring. Since the results are darker and more prominent, this was not a suitable method on this occasion.
