How to Get the Right Size When Buying a Full Diamond Eternity Ring

Diamond sizes for an eternity ring

Big diamond eternity rings – how to ensure the finger size is correct for a full eternity ring

We are frequently asked if it is possible to re-size a full diamond eternity ring. Having answered this question already we’re tackling the issue of size at the beginning of a buyer’s journey.

Nobody will doubt the difficulty of re-sizing a full diamond eternity ring after completion. An eternity ring can take 4 weeks to create. From CAD design, to create the model. Then casting the mount, through to mounting, setting, hallmarking and finishing the ring. The finger size is such an important consideration. This cannot be stressed enough. Getting the size wrong is no easy fix for an eternity ring, so this detail should be considered carefully ahead of making a purchase.

How to correctly establish the finger size of a full eternity ring

The following recommendation applies to our bespoke design service only, and not to our entire collection. In addition, this suggestion will be unsuitable for anyone purchasing a surprise eternity ring.

Working to your chosen finger size, we suggest designing and casting the eternity ring mount as the first step. The next step would involve sending the empty ring mount to try on the finger. Once diamonds are set, it is very difficult to adjust the size, but much easier before diamonds are set. We suggest trying on the empty ring mount without the diamonds. Clients post the setting back to us in readiness for the final stages.

Much of our work involves making ring mounts for clients who already have diamonds. The only difference is that we continue the final stages of setting and finishing once the ring comes back. With or without an adjustment for finger size. For the client, this means peace of mind that their full eternity ring will fit perfectly onto the finger.
