Pink Sapphires & Diamonds

Over the last year, the popularity of both diamond halo ring designs, and the pink sapphire style of engagement ring have risen. As a result, we thought it would be appropriate to feature a perfect example of a pink sapphire and diamond halo ring.

Why  is it called the ‘Halo’ Ring?

Designed with an outer ring of diamonds (i.e a halo of diamonds) surrounding a central stone, the halo design provides an alternative to designs with diamond set shoulders. Adding the diamonds to a halo (and keeping shoulder plain) actually reduces risk to the outer diamonds if the ring is sized down. A benefit of keeping to plain shoulders below the setting.

We are now producing far more (personalised) coloured stone rings – existing ring styles, set with a mixture of coloured precious stone and white diamonds. The combinations can be truly beautiful. Pink Sapphire and diamond engagement rings provide that beautiful mixture and pink is the most feminine colour. To combine girlish pink with the prestige of diamonds works wonderfully. Both types of stone are also very durable. This is why Sapphires and diamonds are so popular for an engagement ring as we remarked upon recently in a previous post.

The Devil is in the Detail

At Serendipity Diamonds, we are the first to admit we are a little OCD about details. Don’t worry if you are too. We like it. When you purchase an expensive item of jewellery, why not be very specific about choice. Coloured gemstones like Pink sapphires provide a further opportunity to personalise the ring. We tend to favour brilliant cut Pink Sapphires, which are probably closer to most people’s idea of a pink diamond, than a diamond itself. It actually works out far less expensive. A good clarity, a strong noticeable shade of pink and plenty of brilliance.

If you have a preference for one of our rings, set with either a Pink Sapphire or an alternative gemstone choice, please get in touch. We can advise on coloured stones to meet colour requirements and most suitable stones for durability and long-term wear.
