There are certain advantages to purchasing an engagement ring at different times of the year. Depending on your own set of circumstances, it’s worth considering a few things before making your decision. While many buyers purchase the ring just before a romantic proposal, buying ahead of time can save a great deal of money.
Buying an engagement ring in January
Most jewellery stores, whether physical shops or online stores, run January sales. After the busy turbulence of Christmas, jewellery workshops become a little quieter—another advantage to buying early in the year. Just because a shop announces a 50% sale, don’t jump too quickly. Since many high street stores work to very high margins, they can afford to reduce prices by as much as 50%. While such sales look good on the surface, a smaller discount online can yield far greater value. More bling for your buck!
Should you buy an engagement ring in February?
Another reason for buying early in January is to beat the crowds buying for Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Jewellery workshops become very busy in early February, creating engagement rings for Valentine’s Day. Get in early and avoid the last minute buying! With longer days and warmer weather, there are some great opportunities for romantic proposals. Romantic proposals in the great outdoors can be very difficult in some countries over Winter. If you’re worried about where to keep the engagement ring, talk to your retailer. Many smaller, independent retailers will be happy to hold the ring until you’re ready to pop the question.
Is Summer a good time to buy an engagement ring?
Summer is a very popular time of year to buy a diamond engagement ring. Summer holidays provide a popular backdrop for a surprise proposal. Proposing on a beach, whilst waves break on the shore. What could be more idyllic? But don’t leave the ring until a week before you travel. We recommend planning the ring at the same time as booking the holiday. Holidays require a great deal of planning. Most noteworthy, Christmas is a very popular time for a proposal, combining the most amazing Christmas present with such an emotional event at such a magical time of year.
