10 unique ideas for unique matching wedding bands

Take inspiration from our wedding ring guide. We decided to compile a list of 10 ideas for matching wedding bands, his and hears wedding rings for bride and groom. We apply all of the following custom designs to our basic ring styles available from our website and showroom.

Our small and friendly expert team work tirelessly to advise and guide clients through the entire process. At the same time, we provide all of the artwork where necessary with no additional cost.

1. Fingerprints added to wedding bands

Fingerprint wedding rings add the unique pattern of your fingerprint to any ring design, applied inside or outside the ring. This has become our most popular type of wedding ring personalisation in recent years.

We apply a client’s actual fingerprint to any of our plain bands. Clients use our free fingerprint kit to prepare a suitable print. We refine prints to improve the quality of the artwork before applying the design to the wedding ring. Read more on our dedicated fingerprint ring blog post.

2. Actual heartbeats applied around your bands

Heartbeat rings make unique matching wedding bands for both bride and groom. We provide clients with an ECG reader purchased online. Once returned at a later date, we refund the cost of the reader.

The device links to a smartphone and helps clients take a real heartbeat to add to their partner’s wedding band. The effect works well across all precious metals, including 950 Platinum, 18ct White Gold, 18ct Yellow Gold and 18ct Rose Gold.

3. Sound patterns on wedding bands

We add sound patterns to create unique matching wedding bands for brides and grooms. We apply a voiceprint taken from an iPhone or Android phone. As a result, a specific recording translates into a graphic design engraved onto the surface of our ring designs. Regardless of their location, clients can email us their recordings or graphics. Next, we create dedicated artwork to apply to the inside or outside of the rings.

4. Wedding vows engraved around wedding rings

Our next idea adds an extract of your unique wedding vows and applies the writing in any chosen typeface to your wedding rings. This beautiful idea appears in our example in Gaelic, created for one of our clients a few years ago. Our team help clients to arrange the maximum amount of text applied around the entire wedding band.

5. Bike tyre wedding bands

Tyre pattern wedding rings make perfect rings for motorbike enthusiasts. In fact, most motorbike tyres feature a unique print or tread. Provided we have a clear pattern to work from, and we can completely customise the ring with an individual tyre tread pattern. Recently, we introduced Black Zirconium to our collection, perfectly suited for tyre pattern wedding bands.

6. Handwriting on wedding bands

Our sixth idea takes a handwritten extract of writing to apply to your wedding rings. We scan the text, scale it down and add it by laser engraving. Another sentimental variation of this idea applies to children’s handwriting inside or outside any ring design.

7. Add each other’s birthstones

This subtle idea takes a tiny coloured gemstone into a wedding ring within a flush setting. Each couple adds their very own birthstone into their ring. As a suggestion, we recommend the same ring style for the bride and groom. Grooms typically wear wider bands, but for unique matching wedding bands, keep to the same ring style with the same gemstone setting.

8. Elvish inspired bands

Create unique Lord of the Rings inspired wedding rings with an Elvish engraving added to your wedding rings. The Tengwar script was created by J. R. R. Tolkien within the fictional context of Middle-Earth either later in the 1920s or early in the 1930s. Letters feature a combination of two shapes: a long or short vertical stem and rounded bows. Clients forward their preferred wording to us in English. Next, we use an online translator to convert the text to Elvish ready to engrave onto the rings.

9. Personalised Rune rings

Rune wedding rings suit many of our clients on a similar fantasy theme. We translate writing into two different types of Rune. Runes are letters in a set of alphabets known as runic alphabets. Runes were distinctive symbols used to write various Germanic languages before the Latin alphabet was adopted. In addition, we also create Ogham wedding rings, with wording in Ogham script used by the Celtic population of the British Isles.

10. Add a decorative pattern

Our final suggestion for unique matching wedding bands comes in a matching decorative pattern. For example, adding a hand-engraved leaf pattern to the same ring style. The matching pair of wedding rings above featured a leaf design around two different ring widths. We created both rings in 100% ethical Fairtrade Gold.
