Introducing Ogham wedding rings

Today we’re introducing a brand new personalised design to our engraved wedding rings. Ogham wedding rings feature a distinctive run-styled script. To explain, the Ogham script creates a distinctive pattern around any wedding ring. Lateral lines cross a central line—each cluster representing a letter of the alaphabet.

What are Ogham wedding rings?

Ogham is an alphabet that appears on monumental inscriptions dating from the 4th to the 6th century AD. It appears on stone and in manuscripts dating from the 6th to the 9th century. It was used mainly to write Primitive and Old Irish. In addition, it was used to write Old Welsh, Pictish and Latin. It was inscribed on stone monuments throughout Ireland, particularly Kerry, Cork and Waterford, and in England, Scotland, the Isle of Man and Wales. In particular, it was used in Pembrokeshire in south Wales.

Why use Ogham for wedding rings?

The use of Ogham creates a very distinctive pattern around a wedding ring. Furthermore, the pattern is 100% unique for each ring created. We translate a message or names into Ogham. These are then applied by laser engraving before the ring is polished or satin finished.

Other uses for Ogham Script Rings

Ogham can be applied to bands—not just for wedding rings. Ogham script rings are very popular and can be used for personal gifts, and promise rings to send a message to a loved one. Furthermore, there is a considerable interest in Irish Ogham jewellery which features the same distinctive engraving. Just like some of the Cuneiform scripts from the Babylonian Period, Ogham lends itself very well to impressions made in precious metals. For Titanium however, Ogham is best engraved onto the surface of the ring.
