In Praise of Yellow Gold Pear Shaped Engagement Rings

Unique yellow gold pear shaped engagement rings

Yellow gold pear shaped engagement rings rarely feature amongst popular engagement rings. More often than not, it is the classic round solitaire taking pride of place. Round diamonds cater to the masses. Pear-shaped diamonds appeal to more selective buyers. Our second detail for this post relates to the precious metal choice. Despite White gold standing as the most popular precious metal, we decided to pair the pear with yellow gold. Together, both options open up unique possibilities for a more unusual choice of engagement ring. Coupled with many celebrity endorsements, the pear-shaped diamond certainly carries its weight.

What is a pear-shaped diamond?

A pear-shaped diamond appears on a diamond certificate under the name Pear modified brilliant-cut diamond. Rounded at one end, the sides curve and narrow to form a point. The typical pear-shaped diamond has 58 facets. Pear-shaped diamonds come in a wide range of carat weight, colour and clarity options. Furthermore, a wide variation of ‘makes’ exist, referring to the overall proportions. The same can be said for many other fancy-shaped diamond cuts. With this in mind, buyers have the option of shorter, fatter pears, longer, thinner pears, or a regular pear shape. This equates to a more aesthetically pleasing length to width ratio. In addition, buyers should avoid shallow diamonds with a noticeable black-bowtie effect.

Examples of yellow gold pear-shaped engagement rings

There are many styles of yellow gold pear shaped engagement rings. All of the following styles come in alternative precious metals. In addition, carat, colour and clarity are all changeable. Not only that but there exists the choice of white or yellow gold for the setting itself.

Fairtrade yellow gold – make a difference and change lives

If you’re considering yellow gold, then why not choose Fairtrade Gold. Some years ago, we introduced Fairtrade Gold as an option for both engagement rings and wedding rings at Serendipity Diamonds. Sourced from Fairtrade mines, Fairtrade Gold comes in a choice of both white and yellow gold. Most notable is that all Fairtrade Gold comes from artisanal miners committed to improving the lives of their fellow workers and community. In addition to improving lives, Fairtrade Gold has saved lives—helping to move children from the dangers of working in mines, to the classroom. Using safety equipment, a pre-requisite for Fairtrade certified miners, artisanal miners benefit from a fair price for the gold they produce. Additionally, Fairtrade miners receive a premium per kilo of gold to invest in their communities. We are very proud to offer Fairtrade yellow gold for most of our engagement ring and wedding ring styles.
