Buying a durable wedding ring for working hands

A durable, wear-resistant wedding ring has its merits for buyers with a manual job or anyone engaged in physical labour.

Furthermore, hardness and durability are two factors essential for long-term wear and tear.

How do traditional plain wedding rings resist wear?

Plain wedding rings offer the greatest durability. Besides your choice of metal, a thicker band offers greater strength.

As a result, light weight wedding rings lack the strength of heavier styles. To explain, we create most bands in 3 different depths; light, medium and heavy-weight. Our best selling plain wedding rings fall into the medium-weight range. It must be remembered that many well-known high street shops add confusing descriptions. An example is super-heavy weight. Many wedding rings described as super-heavy-weight fall below the gram weight of our own medium weight rings.

Best precious metals for a durable wedding ring

Across our full range of metal choices, we advise Titanium or Palladium wedding bands for working hands. Titanium and Palladium will both scratch, but both are lightweight metals. Furthermore, both metals will stand knocks, scrapes and heavy wear. In contrast, 9-carat gold wears much faster and is less suitable for heavy wear. 18-carat gold has excellent hardness but proceed with caution if you are considering 18-carat white gold for your wedding band. White gold receives a white Rhodium plating to brighten the slightly-tinted metal. Under heavy wear, Rhodium wears away to reveal a variation in colour between the natural white gold and the whiter Rhodium plating.

Engraved wedding rings – avoiding wear when it comes to your engraving

Many of our clients choose to apply a unique engraving. This varies between a line of text, an engraved fingerprint or even a heartbeat reading. Consider adding your engraving inside your ring. Protected within the ring, engravings are less likely to be worn away. Fingerprint inside wedding ring
