Popular Wedding Ring Profiles and Styles

What is a wedding ring profile?

A wedding ring profile describes the style of a wedding ring. More specifically, this term refers to the shape or cross-section of the band. At the same time, many jewellers sell a choice of different depths in the same profile. For example, lightweight, medium-, and heavy-weight variations of the same ring shape. But remember, as thickness increases, so does precious metal weight. At the same time, cost increases owing to more gold or platinum within the ring.

What are the most popular wedding ring styles?

Without a shadow of a doubt, the court profile wedding ring heralds as the most popular choice. Variations exist including the slight court, and traditional court to name just two very popular styles. Both feature a gently curved inner and outer face. For this reason, court wedding rings glide onto and off the finger easily offering comfort and a classic timeless style suitable for couples of all ages.

The Slight Court Wedding Ring

Style reference "Osborne"

The regular or slight court wedding ring offers comfort and durability, most popular in a medium weight. With more rounded edges, the slight court differs from the traditional court with a slightly more modern profile. Choose a lightweight variation for a smaller ring budget or a medium or heavy weight if you need engraving or stone setting. This ensures extra depth and strength and additional structure to accommodate personalisation.

The regular or slight court is our post popular wedding ring design. Most men choose a width suitable for their hand size. 5mm and 6mm widths make the most popular choice for men, while 2.5mm widths suit most women matching bands to the engagement ring. We create this style of wedding band in most widths and precious metals. For example, Platinum, Gold and Palladium. In addition, we create this same profile by request in Titanium and Zirconium.

The D Shaped Wedding Ring

Style name "Bembridge"

Our D-shaped wedding ring provides a light, affordable wedding band with a pronounced curved outer surface and a flat inner surface. As a result, the D-shaped cross-section gives rise to the name. Whilst other heavier versions exist—suitable for stone settings, our Bembridge style remains the most popular. We create this design in a range of widths and precious metal choices with the added option to personalise the ring design. Choose from traditional engravings, fingerprint engravings, heartbeat effects, and other graphic effects laser etched on the inside or outside surfaces.

D Shape Wedding Rings have a rounded outer face with a distinctive domed appearance. The inner surface of the ring is flat against the finger. The shape resembles a capital letter "D." This is a softer shape with a rounded look. The flat inner surface makes this design popular for engravings. Heavier versions of this design fall into the 'heavyweight' category for added depth.

The Flat Court Wedding Ring

Style reference "Culver"

The flat court wedding ring once stood as our most popular men's wedding ring. Today, the design is less popular compared to the slight and traditional court styles. The flat court provides an opposite profile to the D-shaped wedding ring with its rounded inner surface and flat outer surface. We create flat court bands of all widths. The style rolls easily on and off the finger with less contact than the D-shape wedding rings owing to the curved inner surface. Enjoy a wide range of engraving options for this design. In addition, we provide a stone setting service to add small diamonds and gemstones to this and other ring styles with a suitable ring depth.

Flat court bands provide a modern contemporary look, most popular with grooms in 5mm and 6mm widths. Many buyers consider this profile to be more stylish than the flat profile. At the same time, the design offers greater comfort with its curved court-shaped inner surface.

Concave Wedding Rings

Concave wedding rings provide an alternative wedding band style for men and women. The raised edges fall away into the centre of the ring with an opposite outer surface shape compared to the convex D-shaped bands. At the same time, concave wedding rings offer a comfortable fit, most popular in widths of 4mm and wider. The concave shape is less noticeable in narrower widths. Remember to ensure you have the correct ring size for this design which cannot be resized due to the shape of the band.
