1930 Gold Sovereign Pendant in Ornate Gold Mount
Originally struck at the South African Mint in Pretoria, the 1930 Sovereign bears the “SA” mint mark beneath the horse and dragon design. Sovereigns from this era remain highly sought after for both their historical significance and intrinsic gold content.
This particular example has been carefully mounted within a substantial 9ct Yellow Gold frame featuring ornate scroll detailing around the outer edge. The mount allows the coin to remain fully visible from both front and reverse sides, preserving the artistry of the original engraving.
The reverse design by Benedetto Pistrucci, first introduced for the Royal Mint in 1817, depicts Saint George triumphantly slaying the dragon while mounted on horseback — one of the most iconic images ever used on British coinage.
A substantial 8mm jump ring allows the pendant to accommodate a wide range of chains, making the piece versatile for styling as either a classic necklace pendant or collector’s display item.
